What is hardest thing for dads to realize in their parenting?
They’ve been given the power by God to confer identity. So a dad’s interactions with and reactions to his children significantly impact their identity, their sense of self-worth.
Dads build up or burn holes in their kids’ self-worth.
What are some examples of burning holes in your kids’ self-worth?
Harsh responses, Impatience, ‘You stupid’ tone of voice, Disinterest.
These communicate an identity of unworthiness of dad’s time, being a burden.
Be hard on self, soft on others!
What are examples of building up your kids?
Take the time to check in, listen attentively, let them fully speak before responding, play with them, throw them in the air (they learn that they will also be caught by the Father in Heaven!), hug them, and entrust them with some personal things you are interested in or dealing with.
These speak that you love, cherish and trust your child.
What’s made by love is satisfied by love!
Where there is no interest, put interest, and you will find interest.
What can you do to help your child love and cherish you and others?
Model love and cherishing of them.
Encourage them to appropriately ‘Care and Share’ with others by being interested in others and sharing a bit about themselves.
What can you do to help your children love and cherish God?
*Background: Psychologists agree that a child’s relationship with his dad primarily forms the child’s foundational perceptions of God.
The quality and warmth of mom’s relationship with dad most increases his involvement with the kids. Moms are key!
Model prayer, read together saint stories and virtue-focused books (hearing the voice of a father is important, just like the voice of the Father in Heaven was heard spoken aloud by Jesus and others in scripture), pray together, whisper together (just like the still, small voice of God to Elijah).

How is Family Conquest Free?
It’s Donor-supported!
Many of the Family Conquest supporters are parents and grandparents who have suffered from their own children rejecting the Faith and, often times, rejecting them. They want to spread far and wide this approach to parenting of “Feed That Fire Today…before it’s too late!” – the fire of love of God and of family, intentionally fed each day.
