Ian & Larissa's Amazing Love

Your Fiancé Suffers a Traumatic Brain Injury, Would You Marry Him? She did.

Her dreams died in that car crash. Now severely handicapped, would she love him enough to marry him? Look deeper and see God’s incomprehensible desire to love us forever, even at our worst. Click over to the full Family Conquest. The “To Do” activity in the Wrapping It Up section asks families to share stories about faithfulness in marriage when things became really hard and how blessings came from it.

Spiritual Nuggets for Family Discussion

Open with a prayer.
(i.e. a Glory Be, or Our Father, or Hail Mary, or ‘Jesus, Mary, Joseph, we love You! Save souls!’)

What happened to Ian?

  • He was in a terrible car accident.
  • His brain was damaged, and he is now handicapped both physically and mentally.

Were you surprised that Larissa married Ian after his accident?

  • Yes. She didn’t have any moral obligation to marry him.
  • When you are aware of the suffering to come and that there will be a lack of natural consolations in the relationship, it is unusual to still marry.

What comparisons can you make between Larissa's loyal love and God's love?

  • God will never turn his back on us.
  • God loves us when we are handicapped and unattractive to the rest of the world.
  • We don’t deserve God’s love, but He gives it to us freely anyways.

Please pray for Ian and Larissa Murphy. Good news: in January 2017, Larissa gave birth to a son named Dietrich. You can purchase Ian and Larissa’s book on Amazon.
Close with a prayer.

Feed that Fire!

The FREE Family Conquest program helps parents “Feed that Fire today… before it’s too late!”

  • What Fire? The love of God and of family.
  • Too Late? 13 is the average age a child rejects the Faith and his family in his heart! By age 22, that decision shows itself. Today, 85% of Catholic kids leave the Faith!
  • Why This Works? WATCHING together Viral YouTube videos and BONDING together through the faith Q&A’s is fun and effective. It also helps parents and kids learn God’s language of parable, so they can discern God speaking in their prayer!
