Why Souls Need Purgatory
Does sin lessen our happiness on earth and stop us from entering the eternal happiness of heaven?
- Yes!
If we die while in friendship with God (no mortal sin), what may still need to be cleaned up before entering heaven?
- Minor sins of which we didn’t yet repent.
- The remaining damage of our sins which may still need to be repaired.
- Still being attached to some sin (not desiring God above ALL things).
What can we do on earth to repair the damage of our sins?
- Tell God we are sorry right away.
- Go to confession.
- Pray.
- Fast: give up something good, like dessert or some of our play time.
- Do good things for other people.
