Fr. Ripperger: God Uses Demons To Build Virtues

(View segment from 3:32 to 5:28)
Why does God allow demons to tempt us?

  • So we can grow in virtue!
  • The Catechism of the Catholic Church defines virtue: “A virtue is an habitual and firm disposition to do the good. It allows the person not only to perform good acts, but to give the best of himself. The virtuous person tends toward the good with all his sensory and spiritual powers; he pursues the good and chooses it in concrete actions. The goal of a virtuous life is to become like God.”

How do demons impact the level of our virtue?

  • The temptations of the demons cause us to have to fight harder for virtue, so our degree of virtue becomes higher!
  • “It is a great mystery that providence should permit diabolical activity, but “we know that in everything God works for the good with those who love Him.” -CCC 395
  • God told Saint Faustina: “Know that I am with you; I bring about the difficulties, and I overcome them.” So, we know that God helps us to overcome the temptations He permits!
