Opening Prayer
Together:
+ O God, may we discover for ourselves the secret to happiness, boldly spoken by St Augustine: to fall in love with You is the greatest romance, to seek You, the greatest adventure, to find You, the greatest human achievement.
*Pick one of the two below. Repeat it when you do another guide until it’s memorized, then do the next one.
The Greatest Commandment Prayer (The Shema)
- Teach us to live out Your greatest commandment: “Listen! The LORD is our God, the LORD alone! Therefore, you shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength.” -Deu 6:4-5*
*When Jesus was a boy, St Joseph taught Him to memorize and pray always these words.
Jesus told Venerable Sister Consolata Betrone: “The more that you love Me, the happier you will be!”
Choose Life & Blessing Prayer
- Help our family choose life: “Today, I set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life by loving God, obeying His voice and clinging to Him!” -Deu 30:19-20
Hail Mary…
Come Holy Spirit, enlighten our minds and ignite our hearts with the fire of your Divine Love. +Amen
1st guide completed on Strong Catholic Dad 3.0. my kids- ages 10, 8, 6, 4, and 2 seemed to enjoy it and was easy to get through. Now, off for our activity which I anticipate being a nice change from the previous guides. Some carefree time spent will be nice!
The magic trick at the end was SO COOL. My 6-year old daughter replicated the trick for my 24 yr old daughter and her fiance. They were both stumped and a bit shocked at how the heck she did that right in front of their eyes!
The video about Patrick was relevant to our family given that we have a special needs son as well whom brings a great many challenges to our house as well. Seeing the love and effort this father provides his son was inspirational for me to continue to do what I can for my son. Additionally I believe by virtue of my other children having viewed this video will help provide a new perspective to them as well.
May God bless you for all you do for the Least of His people, as well as us struggling dads, in this troubled world.
Peace and blessings.
